The Lucknow and Kanpur police commissioners will be removed, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Monday in a severe message to the state government. Up to five further IPS officials have also been transferred by the state government.

Senior IPS officers S B Shriodhkar and B P Jogdand have been named the next police commissioners for Lucknow and Kanpur, respectively, according to a government notification. Jogdand was posted as the auxiliary director general (ADG), police headquarters, whereas Shirodkar was formerly the ADG, intelligence
In the meantime, DK Thakur and Vijay Kumar Meena, the departing police commissioners of Lucknow and Kanpur, have been attached to headquarters as ADG’S and placed on a waiting list. Since November 2020, Thakur has served as a Lucknow Police commissioner.
Gopal das Meena, who was transferred to the cooperative cell by the state government, has been replaced as director general of the Crime Branch, Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) by ADG, Homeguard Vijay Kumaras.
Vijay Kumar Maurya, DG (Logistics), has also been assigned additional responsibility as DG Homeguard.
