The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) on Tuesday announced the selection of Sanjay Kumar Jha as the new Director (Technical) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a Schedule ‘B’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). Jha, currently serving as General Manager, Area General Manager at MCL, was chosen from a pool of 11 candidates who were interviewed for the position.
Jha’s appointment is subject to requisite clearances and final approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). He will succeed Akshay Shrikant Bapat, the current Director (Technical), who is set to retire on November 30, 2024.
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, plays a critical role in India’s coal production, and Jha’s extensive experience within the company is expected to contribute to the company’s continued technical growth and operational efficiency.
