In a notable administrative reshuffle within the Delhi government, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Santosh D Vaidya (IAS: 1998: AGMUT) as the Principal Secretary (Home), Government of NCT of Delhi. He will replace senior bureaucrat Bipul Pathak (IAS: 1992: AGMUT).
Vaidya, who was recently transferred from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi along with Sanjeev Khirwar, is set to take over one of the most sensitive and high-responsibility roles in the capital’s administrative framework.
Interim Arrangement Until Vaidya Takes Charge
As a temporary measure, Sandeep Kumar (IAS: 1997: AGMUT)—currently handling multiple key portfolios including Principal Secretary (Vigilance), Principal Secretary (AR), Principal Secretary (IT), Chairman (DSSSB) and Chairperson (DPCC)—will function as the acting Home Secretary until Vaidya assumes office.
Bipul Pathak Shifted to Social Welfare
Outgoing Home Secretary Bipul Pathak, who also holds crucial charges such as ACS (Finance), ACS (Planning), ACS (Industries) and Chairman, DSIIDC, has now been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary (Social Welfare) with the additional charge of Director (UTCS).
The reshuffle is expected to streamline administrative responsibilities and strengthen governance in key departments of the Delhi government.
