Telecom & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw successfully tested 5G call at IIT Madras

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology on Thursday successfully tested India’s first 5G audio and video call at IIT Madras. The complete network has been designed and developed in the country.

Ashwini Vaishnaw took it to Twitter to share the news saying, “Aatmanirbhar 5G…Successfully tested 5G call at IIT Madras. Entire end-to-end network is designed and developed in India.”

He further added this is the recognition of PM Modi’s vision to have our own 4G, and 5G technology stack developed in India, made in India, and made for the world. We have to win the world with this entire technology stack.

The Department of Telecommunications will most probably move the 5G spectrum auction proposal to the Union Cabinet for final approval next week.

The 5G services are expected to roll out in the latter part of the year, enabling an innovative realm in the quality of services as well as new types of services. PD Vaghela , TRAI Chairman said that digital technology is making service delivery in education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, and other sectors more effective and efficient. In the same regard, Vaghela urged for an enabling, collaborative approach among different sectors to frame policies and regulations.
