Vineet Joshi Takes Charge as Secretary, Department of Higher Education

Vineet Joshi assumed office today as the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. A seasoned administrator with extensive experience in the education sector, Joshi brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

Prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief Secretary of Manipur, demonstrating exceptional leadership in governance and administration. His distinguished career also includes key positions such as Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, he holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He further augmented his academic credentials with an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), equipping him with a strong foundation in both technical and managerial domains.

As Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, he is expected to spearhead initiatives to enhance the quality and accessibility of higher education in India, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the government’s vision of a self-reliant and globally competitive education system.
