Yogi Adityanath-led government has given the nod to set up three data centre parks in Uttar Pradesh, making the state the biggest destination of data storage in northern India.

The government will be investing about Rs 20,000crore in the data centre industry in the next five years. Proposals amounting to Rs 16,000crore from five interested investors have been received including Hiranandani Group Adani Group, NTT Japan, and Web Werks India Private Limited. Apart from these investors, 13 more companies have shown interest in investing in this sector and are willing to invest Rs 25,848 crore.
Currently, the country is dependent on foreign centres for data storage.
With an immense increase in usage of data and the need for confidentially, the demand for storage centres in India has increased significantly. The government of Uttar Pradesh wants to grab this opportunity and meet the growing demand for data centres and make the state the preferred investment destination for the data centre industry.
