A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Telangana Government and Koo, an Indian multilingual social media platform, to establish a Development Center in Hyderabad.
As an IT powerhouse with access to a strong technology ecosystem and a vast pool of IT talent, Hyderabad is where Koo sees its footprint in the region expanding significantly. Koo, an independent and open platform that allows users to express themselves in 10 languages, has a substantial user base of users from the area.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, KT Rama Rao, Minister for ITE&C, and Industries & Commerce, said, “We strongly believe that social media is an important mechanism for advancing government effectiveness. By collaborating with Koo, we are hopeful that our efforts to connect and engage with citizens for disseminating information and services of Telangana Government will be augmented further.”
In accordance with this MoU, Koo and the Government of Telangana will collaborate to use Telugu to reach out to the state’s non-English people. In addition to promoting the distinct culture of Telangana, the collaboration would help advance the rich history and heritage of Telugu as a language.
Co-founder and CEO of Koo, Aprameya Radhakrishna, stated that language-based social media is urgently needed, particularly in a multilingual nation like India. Koo, which is neutral and autonomous, is the preferred platform in India. We consider it a great honour and privilege to work with the Telangana government to advance our goal of giving people more digital freedom of expression. A crucial tool in achieving this goal will be the Hyderabad Development Center.
