Indian Railways has installed “Meghdoot” machines at Dadar, Thane, and other stations of the Mumbai Division in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s notion of innovation.

Innovative technology is used by the special “Meghdoot” devices to turn airborne water vapour into drinkable water.
According to the official, Maithri Aquatech Pvt Ltd. has been given a contract for the installation of 17 “MEGHDOOT,” atmospheric water generator kiosks, over the Mumbai Division of Central Railway for a period of five years.
The licence price for this cutting-edge project is Rs 25,50,000 annually, of which Rs 1,50,000 is paid for each kiosk located at the following six stations: CSMT-5, Dadar-5, Kurla-1, Thane -4, Ghatkopar-1, and Vikhroli-1.
An Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) is a tool that draws water from the surrounding atmosphere. The method draws water vapour from the surrounding atmosphere by using condensation science. MEGHDOOT – AWG from Maithri Aquatech employs cutting-edge technology to turn airborne water vapour into fresh, clean drinking water, it was added.
The technology enables operation in a range of environmental conditions, including temperatures (18°C-45°C) and relative humidity levels (25 per cent – 100 per cent). It can be utilised as an immediate option for potable water because it starts producing water in a matter of hours after being turned on. In order to manufacture water of the finest quality, the firm has also worked with the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad.
Additionally, the representative stated that these Meghdoot machines are research-driven and do not require source water. Additionally, the technology requires minimal upkeep and is environmentally safe.
