The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to provide psychological counselling to students of classes 10 and 12, along with their parents, starting from January 1, 2024. This initiative is in alignment with the upcoming examination schedule for practical and theory papers, scheduled from January 1 to February 15, 2024.
The CBSE press release emphasizes the commitment to supporting students and parents during the crucial examination period, aiming to minimize stress and enhance the overall well-being of individuals affiliated with CBSE schools.
Tele-counselling Services
CBSE is introducing a voluntary and free-of-cost Tele-counselling service that will be accessible from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. Additionally, a toll-free IVRS service will be available 24/7 through the Board’s dedicated number, 1800-11-8004. This service aims to provide comprehensive support to students and parents, ensuring accessibility and convenience.
Since its inception in 1998, CBSE has been offering counselling services in two phases – pre-exam and post-result. The longevity of this service underscores the board’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for students during the examination process.
Global Outreach
In a noteworthy development, CBSE is extending its counselling services beyond borders. A total of 65 Principals, trained counsellors, special educators, and psychologists will contribute to this year’s counselling initiative. Notably, 13 counsellors from various countries, including Kuwait, Nepal, Japan, Doha-Qatar, Oman (Muscat), and United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-al-Khaimah), will offer their expertise to students across the globe.
Countries benefiting from these counselling services include Kuwait, Nepal, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Oman, USA, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
Podcasts for Additional Support
In a bid to enhance the support services, CBSE is introducing bilingual podcasts on relevant subjects. These podcasts will be available on CBSE’s official website (cbse.gov.in), offering an additional resource for students seeking guidance and information.
The CBSE press release concludes with a commitment to the holistic well-being of students, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary support to navigate the examination period successfully.
