Retired DGP T John Longkumer Appointed State Election Commissioner: Nagaland

The Government of Nagaland has appointed retired Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer as the State Election Commissioner. The government’s circular, detailing the appointment, specifies that Longkumer, a member of the 1991 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), will serve in this capacity for a term of five years or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes earlier.

Originally hailing from the cadre of Chhattisgarh, Longkumer was deputed to Nagaland for a three-year period commencing from June 27, 2018, as part of an inter-state cadre arrangement. His appointment as the Director General of Police in Nagaland was sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on administrative grounds, showcasing his credentials and experience in law enforcement.
