The Universities Grants Commission (UGC) has sent a circular to the vice-chancellors of all central universities and colleges to use Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to admit students in undergraduate courses. M Jagadesh Kumar, UGC Chairman has said that for admission to 45 central universities, CUET scores will be mandatory and not the marks scored in the 12th standard. However, the universities can fix their minimum eligibility criteria.
Kumar has tweeted on Sunday, “Today we have written to the VCs, Directors, and Principals of all universities and colleges to use CUET scores for admission in their UG programs because with CUET in place there is no need for students to worry about writing multiple entrance exam.”
The National Testing Agency has announced that the application process for the CUET for undergraduate programs in central universities will start from April 2. Further, it added that CUET will give a single-window opportunity to students aspiring to take admission in any central university across the country.
