Centre asks states & UTs to allow relaxation of COVID curbs

The Union Home Ministry has asked states and union territories to allow relaxation in COVID restrictions for sports, social, entertainment, academic, religious events and operations of shopping complexes, transport, cinema halls, spas, gyms, bars and restaurants due to the number of case in the country have substantially declined. The daily positivity rate recorded was 1.28 percent while the weekly positivity rate was 1.48 percent.

Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla while issuing COVID-19 guidelines for March also suggested the implementation of a risk assessment-based approach on the opening of economic activities would be as suggested by the Union health ministry.

In the guidelines provided to chief secretaries of all states and union territories, the home secretary also said it will mandatory to wear a mask, maintain social distance and hand hygiene, and ventilation in closed spaces. These guidelines are mandated in the National Directives for Covid Management should continue to be enforced.
