From 5th August to 15th August, entry to all monuments and sites under the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) protection will be free. As part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and 75th Independence Day celebrations, the government made this announcement on Wednesday. According to officials, free admission to all foreigners and Indian citizens visiting the monuments maintained by the ASI has been made possible.

More than 3,600 monuments in the nation are under ASI protection. There are 116 monuments out of these that are ticketed, spread throughout 19 states. Of these, 17 are in Uttar Pradesh, 16 are in Maharashtra, 12 are in Karnataka, 10 are in Delhi, 8 are in Madhya Pradesh, 7 are in Tamil Nadu, and 6 are in Gujarat.
The Union Ministry of Culture has declared access to all monuments under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India free beginning today and lasting through August 15 as part of the country’s 75th anniversary celebrations known as the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Making the announcement, Union culture minister G Kishan Reddy said on Twitter, “As part of ‘Azadi ka #AmritMahotsav’ and 75th I-Day celebrations, @ASIGoI has made Entry Free for the visitors/tourists to all its protected monuments/sites across the country, from 5th -15th August, 2022”
