Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Defense, has urged the non-official directors of Defense Public Undertakings to make sure that the government’s numerous initiatives to achieve self-reliance in defence are carried out smoothly.

He was speaking to the CMDS and NODs of DPSUs on Wednesday in New Delhi at a training sponsored by the Department of Defense Production.
According to the minister, the nation is in a time of transition toward self-sufficiency, and active and cooperative efforts are essential to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar.
He continued by saying that the Ministry of Defense has set a target of Rs. 1.75 lakh crore for defence production by 2025, which includes Rs 35000 crore for exports. He urged CMDs and NODs to collaborate in order to make sure that these public sector businesses rank among the top in their respective industries. He exuded confidence that the DPSUs will play a significant part in accomplishing this aim with contributions of 70 to 80 percent.
The workshop’s objectives were to inform the NODs of their obligations and help them enhance the functioning of DPSUs. The Board of central public sector enterprises heavily relies on the NODs. They support the establishment of quality standards for the company’s goods and services, balance the interests of stakeholders, and encourage the adoption of green technologies and resource conservation practises by the business. They also assist in bringing an independent judgement and an objective viewpoint to the evaluation of the board’s and management’s performance.
