Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of the State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Personnel; Public Grievances, and Pensions, addressed the young IAS officers of the 2020 batch on Sunday, urging them to use technology to make the government more focused on the needs of its citizens during their three-month internship as Assistant Secretaries in the federal government before joining their respective state cadres.

“2020 batch IAS officers have a “destined” link with 2047 when independent India will turn 100.With age and active years of service on their side,they will have opportunity and privilege to contribute to the making of Centenary India” He said
The assistant secretaries are expected to give their inputs for improvement in various flagship programmes in different ministries or departments of government of India, he added.
The minister also anticipated that the technocrats would be able to honour the government’s hallmark programmes, which are technology-based and technology-driven and focus on areas like health, agriculture, sanitation, education, skills, and mobility, to name a few.
According to Singh, information technology, the internet, mobile technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, among other things, can bring about significant changes in people’s lives and help the administration get in touch with the public directly as citizens’ expectations and aspirations of government are rising. According to him, by effectively employing technology, the necessary improvement in citizen services and quick resolution of complaints linked to them can be achieved
